HELL — Divine Comedy Ring

“Abandon all hope, you who enter.”

Inspired by Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, INFERNO transforms the poem's symbols, numerical structure and journey through damnation into a piece of wearable art.

At the center of the ring, a cross is consumed by flames: an image suspended between faith and punishment, salvation and eternal suffering.

The sides conceal additional references to Dante's work.

On one side appear the numbers 1, 3 and 9, recalling the numerical symbolism and structure running throughout the Divine Comedy.

On the opposite side, three stars represent the closing verses of Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso. Each of the three cantiche ends with the same final word:

Stars.

The stars become a symbol of the destination waiting beyond darkness—a distant light visible only after crossing Hell.

INFERNO is not simply an illustration of Dante's poem. It is a fragment of the journey: sin, punishment, faith and the possibility of emerging once again beneath the stars.

The original concept and symbolism were created by Stefano Mendeni, an artist from Bienno, Italy. The design was transformed into a handcrafted ring by NOWN.

Each piece is individually cast and finished in Italy. The darkened surface settles into the flames, numbers and engraved details, giving the ring the appearance of an ancient artifact recovered from Dante's underworld.
